FIT Insurance - Fields In Trust

Fields in Trust members are now eligible to join the new bespoke insurance scheme created by Zurich Insurance in conjunction with FIT. Insurance claims are increasingly frequent and so it is vital that playgrounds and playing fields have adequate cover for any accidents and related claims that may occur.

The FIT / Zurich policies offer far greater cover than the majority of competitor schemes. Research has indicated that insurance claims are reaching figures close to £5million and therefore the Public Liability cover of this new scheme is set at £8million to ensure there is sufficient coverage in place. Local groups and organisations are liable for any shortfall in insurance provision in the event of a substantial claim and so extensive coverage is advisable. The Zurich policy has the added advantage of covering non-hazardous activities such as fetes and car boot sales: volunteer activities can be assessed on a case by case basis. Local groups can also invest in extra protection through the Trustee Indemnity policy which is set at £100,000 and has an excess of £500.

Applications are assessed individually by Zurich but guidelines to the base policies are:

Public Liability Cover
(playing field plus play area with
up to ten items of play equipment)
                               £155.00

Trustee Indemnity                                                                 £65.00

In order to access the scheme, organisations must comply with the following terms and conditions:

1. Hold current membership of Fields in Trust.

2. Register and undertake annual playground inspections with RosPA or Zurich.

If you have fulfilled these two pre-requisites download and complete the insurance forms. Once completed these forms - along with FIT membership details or registration - should be returned to: Jon Cann, Fields in Trust, 2d Woodstock Studios, 36 Woodstock Grove, London W12 8LE.
